InkSpace: Blog CMS with MEAN Stack and Angular Server-Side Rendering

InkSpace is a blogging platform and content management system built with the MEAN stack and Angular server-side rendering. Authors write in Markdown, editors publish, and every article is rendered on the server so search engines and social platforms see complete pages.

SEO first by design: server-rendered pages, clean URLs, structured data, a generated sitemap and fast loading on every device.

Key features

Markdown editor

Write with a live preview, headings, code blocks and images, then save drafts before publishing.

Server-side rendering

Angular SSR delivers fully rendered HTML, which improves first paint, link previews and indexing.

SEO tools

Each post has its own title, meta description, canonical URL, Open Graph tags and JSON-LD structured data.

Roles and workflow

Authors, editors and admins have different permissions, with a draft, review and publish flow.

Categories and tags

Organise content with categories and tags and give readers fast filtering.

Dynamic sitemap

The Express API generates a sitemap and robots file from published posts, so new articles are discovered quickly.

How it works

  1. An author writes a post in Markdown and saves it as a draft in MongoDB.
  2. An editor reviews it and publishes, which sets the slug and publish date.
  3. When a reader requests the page, Angular SSR fetches the post and renders complete HTML on the server.
  4. The browser hydrates the page so navigation stays instant after the first load.
  5. The sitemap endpoint lists the new post for search engines.

Architecture and design decisions

The goal was a publishing platform that feels like a single page app but behaves like a traditional, crawlable website.

  • Angular Universal style rendering with hydration, guarded so browser only code never runs on the server.
  • Meta and title services set per route, with canonical URLs to avoid duplicate content.
  • Slug based routing for readable, stable article URLs.
  • HTTP caching headers on public content for quick repeat visits.

Tech stack

  • MongoDBDatabase
  • Express.jsAPI framework
  • AngularFrontend
  • Node.jsRuntime
  • Angular SSRTechnology
  • TypeScriptLanguage
  • MarkdownContent format
  • JSON-LDStructured data
  • Tailwind CSSStyling

What this project demonstrates

InkSpace shows how to combine the productivity of a MEAN stack single page application with the search visibility of server-rendered pages, including meta tags, structured data, sitemaps and a safe editorial workflow.
