ShopSphere: MEAN Stack E-commerce Store with Stripe Payments

ShopSphere is a complete e-commerce store built with the MEAN stack. Shoppers browse products, manage a cart, pay securely with Stripe and track their orders, while an admin area handles products and fulfilment.

An end-to-end shop: product catalogue, cart state with NgRx, secure Stripe checkout and order management on a MongoDB backend.

Key features

Product catalogue

Browse by category, search by name and sort by price. Product pages include galleries, descriptions and stock status.

Smart cart

The cart lives in NgRx state and is saved locally, so it survives page reloads and stays consistent across the app.

Secure checkout

Payments run through Stripe Checkout. Card details never touch the server, and webhooks confirm every payment.

Order tracking

Customers see order history and status, from paid to shipped to delivered.

Admin dashboard

Manage products, stock and orders in a role protected area of the same Angular app.

Fast and SEO friendly

Lazy loaded routes, optimised images and clean product URLs keep pages quick and easy to index.

How it works

  1. Products are fetched from the Express API and cached in NgRx for instant navigation.
  2. The shopper adds items to the cart and proceeds to checkout.
  3. The server creates a Stripe Checkout session from the verified cart and prices stored in MongoDB.
  4. Stripe redirects back and a webhook marks the order as paid and reduces stock.
  5. The customer sees the confirmed order and the admin sees it ready for fulfilment.

Architecture and design decisions

Money related code is where careful design matters most, so ShopSphere never trusts the client with prices or totals.

  • Server side pricing: totals are calculated on the API from database prices, not from the browser.
  • Webhook driven orders: an order is only marked paid after Stripe confirms the payment.
  • Role based access with guards in Angular and middleware in Express for the admin area.
  • NgRx for predictable cart and catalogue state with effects handling the API calls.

Tech stack

  • MongoDBDatabase
  • Express.jsAPI framework
  • AngularFrontend
  • Node.jsRuntime
  • NgRxState management
  • StripePayments
  • MongooseData modelling
  • TypeScriptLanguage
  • Tailwind CSSStyling

What this project demonstrates

ShopSphere demonstrates how to build a trustworthy online shop on the MEAN stack: safe payment flows, inventory consistency, role based admin tools and a catalogue that performs well and is easy for search engines to understand.
